Stroke remains a significant health concern in Singapore, particularly among the ageing population. According to World Stroke Organization, 90% of stroke episodes occured in those aged 50 years or older have experienced a stroke and are now stroke survivors, making it one of the leading causes of long-term disability. Many survivors face challenges such as speech difficulties, reduced mobility and cognitive impairments
Singapore Ministry of Health reported over 9,702 new stroke cases in 2022, showing how many people and families are impacted by stroke each year. In 2023, stroke became the fourth leading cause of death in Singapore, responsible for 5.6% of all fatalities. These statistics highlight the urgent need for accessible, targeted stroke rehabilitation and caregiver support within our community.
