Occupational therapy highlights the vital role therapists play in stroke recovery. At Stroke Support Station (S3), individualised programmes are helping persons affected by stroke regain lost function. Sensory training is a critical component, addressing not just motor skills but also the crucial connection between brain and sensation.
One stroke survivor's progress at S3, under the guidance of Senior Occupational Therapist Teh Kaili, demonstrates this. His therapy focuses on restoring both movement and sensation in his affected hand. This combined approach—rehabilitating both motor control and sensory perception—is key to his progress. By relearning how to feel as well as move, he has been steadily regaining functional abilities, and returning to work as well. Occupational therapy empowers stroke survivors to relearn essential skills and rebuild their independence.
